Abstract
To study the K2O effect on the crystal structure and crystallization behavior of BaO-TiO2-SiO2 glasses, the glass-ceramics prepared were characterized using X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and a scanning electron microscope. The results showed that the K2O contents did not effect the formation of new crystals but increased the lattice constant. Combined with XRD data, the FT-IR peaks assigned to Ti-O and Si-O vibrations indicate the formation of the fresnoite (Ba2TiSi2O8) phase. The crystal shape and crystallization tendency of Ba2TiSi2O8 crystals by the K2O content were also discussed.
